Unit 5: Branding
Project 5: Plan a logo according to a client's needs
Ask yourself:
Who are you, What do you do, What do you have to offer? Company Example: LOGO for AVIATION CLOTHING BRAND Brief Overview We are a small company that develops and produces clothing items for pilots and other workers in the aviation industry. We are dedicated to offer the most fashionable and comfortable work wear to our customers! Brand Name Loran Aviation Wear Target Audience The target audience of our company are professional pilots.Requirements We are looking for an iconic brandable logo that reflects exclusivity. Some practical requirements: - The logo should be applicable to different subjects like clothing, paperwork, media, merchandize, websites, etc. - Because of the multiple purpose, it has to look good on black/dark backgrounds and white/light backgrounds. - It should be easily resizable, should be clear when quite small, as well as looking good on wallpapers. We are currently open to color ideas. We were thinking about three style ideas: - Luxury: high class, exclusivity (think about a pilot’s life: privileged job. Traveling around the world, convertible cars, women, etc.) - 1950s: the romanticism of aviation in the 1950s. The beginning of civil aviation. (heroic status of pilots, sdored by beautiful stewardesses ) - Outdoor: think about bush pilots, Alaska, freedom, etc. Logo *concept* can be just "Loran" or "Loran Aviation Wear". A logo that works with both would be ideal. ** |

Think about Color, Texture (rough edged letters and shapes verse smooth and soft edges), different types of balance, negative space, line variation (think verse very think lines), and of course, ABSTRACTION: taking an idea and making it simpler for the view to get the idea but not having to have the actual object they sell: Denver broncos have an idea of a horse, but not an actual picture of a real horse.

Project 5: From your original 6 designs your partner will choose their 3 favorite designs. You will then have to make changes to font, color, layout, etcetera, and your partner will choose their favorite 2 for you to once again make some slight changes. Then your partner will choose their favorite logo. You will have to make 2 changes to this one logo so that you will have 3 logos very similar with slight changes and your partner will decide which one they want to use for their company logo. This will be their Brand's Identity and will represent their company. These logos will be used for the next project. Stakes are high, so design well!
